Helping Veterans Transition to Corporate Jobs

In any given month, more than 50 S&P Global colleagues are serving as mentors to veterans transitioning from military service or to spouses of these veterans, as part of 12-month program that helps service members and their spouses find meaningful employment in the private sector. Our people participate in this program as part of S&P Global’s partnership with American Corporate Partners (ACP), a nonprofit that connects post-9/11 veterans, active-duty spouses and eligible military spouses with corporate professionals from Fortune 500 companies for customized mentorships.  

 

We’ve worked with ACP since 2016. This year’s mentors include Cal Mathis, Chief Security Officer. “I look forward to each of the meetings with my mentee who lives in Florida and is interested in the security field.  I am proud to be able to share my own expertise, and I appreciate all of the support from our company to participate in such an important program for veterans.  It feels great to give back, but I also gained so much. I am a better listener, problem-solver and coach.” 

 

Mentors and their veteran mentees meet monthly to identify professional goals, revise resumes, network within the industry and review job search strategy. More than 20,000 veterans have participated in ACP since 2010.

 

“More than 1 million veterans are expected to transition from the armed forces to civilian life over the next five years.
